Birthday Girl

Today is my youngest Daughter's Birthday.  She is 32!  Wow.  I must have had her when I was 5.  :)

Below is a picture I posted on Facebook

Yesterday I was able to finish Quilting the Charity Quilt and get the binding on, just need to do the hand stitching on it.

It's a little hard to see the quilting here is how it looks from the back.
I did circles in the squares and then some swirls in the borders.

Then I finished the stitching on the "T" block for the Buttermilk Basin BOM.  The Eyes will be buttons.  I'm not sure I like the ones I have so I may get some different ones.

Then I worked a little on Block 4 of Bee-Utiful QAL

I've finished most of my goals for the month which is awesome.  However I also ended up adding a couple of Blocks of the Week.  What was I thinking.  Ha Ha.  But I think for today I am going to work on some gifts I want to make, and a little more work on this month's UFO. I have only gotten about 3 blocks on it done and so for these last few days of the month that's probably a good thing to work on.  That and my new BOW's.
Have a Blessed day!

Four by Four

I did pretty good yesterday - my goal for the day was to prep the next 4 blocks that came out for the Block of the Months and Block of the week's that I am doing.

First off I got the next two blocks for the Bee-Utiful QAL.

Block 4 prepped and ready to be stitched.

Then Block 5

Block 5 Prepped.

Then once I got them the way I wanted them I prepped my next block for Farmhouse Threads Mystery BOW.   Here is the picture of the 2nd block.

Here is my prepped block.

Then my last block to prep was the new one for Buttermilk Basin Mystery "Let it Snow"  I wasn't sure if I was going to have one letter or two this month because last month there wasn't one.  Well the first week of he month they released "T".  Here is their picture:

 I got it prepped.

Then on schedule (the 3rd Friday of the month) they released the letter "S" .   So I went to work prepping "S".
Here is the picture of  their block:

 Here is my prepped block:

Once I had all my blocks prepped and ready to go - I worked on finishing the stitching on my first block for Farmhouse Threads and finished it.

After that while watching some TV I worked on the "T" block for "Let iT Snow".  I started it a couple of weeks ago when I first prepped it and pretty much all that was left was all of the white and the eyes and mouth on the snow balls.  So I worked on the white.

Not too much left on this one.  :)
Today I think I'll work on finishing the quilting on the charity quilt.  Then I will probably work on some of these blocks.  Other than the "S" block, I only have a week to get them done before new ones come out.

In the next few days I want to lay the bears out on the background I picked. I'm concerned it may not work.  I picked a forest green to go behind the bears and the aspens and the leaves.  But I hoping that not too much of the green shows, because she didn't want a green quilt.   Since the background and bears will cover the whole top of the bed - It may be too much green even if the rest of the quilt is another color.  Hmmm.  I guess we'll see.  Anyway I'm going to lay it out an take pictures and depending on how the colors in the picture turn out she may be able to decide and if not it will have to wait until October when she can be here in person.

Okay well - time to get going or nothing will get done.
Have a Blessed Day!

Driving and Stitching

Wednesday was an NLIP (Not Like I Planned)  day but a great day.  We had been cooped up in the house for a couple of days so Hubby asked if I wanted to go for a drive and go see our friends in Havasu City in their new quilt shop.  Yes the ones we helped move.  So we did a few things around the house.  I finished making the potato salad I started and then we took our showers and headed out.  We made a couple stops on the way.  There was a house for sale on a golf course that he had seen that was really nice that he wanted me to see so we drove by it.  Then one of his friends that he used to work with in Oregon moved here about 10 miles from us and told us where his house was so we drove by there to see where he lived. We knew he wasn't home or we would have stopped to say hi.  And because we dawdled so long we were getting hungry so instead of waiting until we got to Lake Havasu City to eat lunch we stopped in Topock and ate at Topock 66 which I've been wanting to try anyway. They have a great marina where boaters can come off the river dock and have a bite to eat.

(All images of Topock 66 have been taken off the internet)

The two shots below are from the Marina with  the Colorado River in the distance.

This shot is out of the marina to the south on the river.
We have boated from Laughlin to Havasu and this bridge is always a sign you are at Topock.
The picture above is the area you walk thru to get to the inside restaurant.  It was not this populated when we went.

Also, I hear they have concerts right on the other side of the pool.

This is an image I got off the internet but this was one of our views from where we were sitting and having lunch.  There were quite a few adults and children in the pool.   This is what the inside area looks like we were sitting next to the glass door that is in the bottom right of the picture, which gave us a great view of he pool.

They have a wonderful outside seating area too but it was a little warm for that.

and for even more fun If you are a man this is what your bathroom looks like.....  No I didn't go in there but I heard about it so googled and got the picture from the internet.  :)

We shared a club sandwich and fries and then continued on to Lake Havasu.  We saw our friends and ran into a couple other people we knew and it was just a lot of fun.

I keep forgetting to take pictures of their new shop now that it's set up - but here is a picture that she posted on her last news letter. You can see a tiny edge of the cutting table in the left corner of this picture and the front door would be behind the person taking this picture.   Then to the right there is a hallway that goes to the sale room and then the back room that has more fabric, the long arm machines and trims.

While I was there I picked up a few things and this years  Row by Row pattern and kit.
I thought it was cute.

Then we headed home.  By the time we drove around more it was time for dinner past actually so we grabbed a pizza on the way home - ate and then relaxed.  So even though I didn't touch any of the sewing I planned it was still a good day.

Thursday I needed to go to the CRQ workshop so I could help audit the treasury reports for the year and then was going to stay and do some hand stitching.  I worked on my 3rd block for the Bee-Utiful BOW and was able to finish it.  Good thing since the next block was coming out on Friday.

For dinner we finally had some of the potato salad I made. Hot Dog sandwiches and Potato Salad.  We use the Polish Sausage dogs.  I split them down the middle and fry them,  so I works well.

Yesterday at the cottage and after I got home - I worked on my Farmhouse Threads Mystery BOW and got all the lettering done on the top, stitched around the pie crust and then started on the birds.

Today I have 4 blocks to prep.  Buttermilk Basin has their new block out.  "S"
Then the new block for Farmhouse Threads BOW.

Then block 4 and 5 for the Bee-Utiful QAL from Moda

I think that will keep me busy for a while, but if I still have time left I want to continue on with the quilting of the charity quilt and get it done.

Well I better get busy at something or nothing is getting done.
Have a Blessed Day!

Where's the Proof

Yesterday I got quite a bit done again, but I can't show all I did. Have you heard the saying my life "The proof is in the pudding"?  Well I can't show you - so you'll have to take my word for it.

I was able to finish a gift for a friend - this is what I can't show until she gets it.  But I share a little tease.   She knows I'm making it but want the finished item to be a surprise.  :)

Next after I finished that - I started the quilting on one of the Charity Quilts.  I stitched in the ditch around the blocks then I did off set circles.  I did that on accident in the first square, I thought I was in the center and wasn't.  But it was a great look so I kept doing it.  I got 5 of the 9 squares done.

Then it was time for dinner.  After dinner I picked up my 3rd block from Bee-utiful QAL and went at some more stitching.  I got the grid on the sunflower done, then the rest of the stems for all the flowers, and the chain stitch on the tulip mostly done.  That was about it,  I was tired and succumbed to the head bob.  My honey woke me up a little later to go to bed.

Today I will continue on with the quilting on the charity quilt. I am hoping today will be my finishing day.  I want to finish the quilting. Then I want to finish the Bee-Utiful block.

Then I have the Farmhouse threads block I want to get on.  I have it prepped, just need to stitch it.

A new block comes out Friday so I better get at it also.

Well I hope you have a Blessed day doing something you want to do.

Heated Monday

With the temperature so high outside it's a great excuse for me to stay in and get some sewing and stitching done.  It got up to 120 according to the temp on our phones and the internet.   And it has felt like a blast furnace every time we have ventured outside.
I have been on a roll the last few days and I hope it can keep up. Yesterday I was able to get the 3rd block of the Bee-Utiful QAL prepped and I started stitching on it.  This is how far I got last night while watching a movie.

The pink flower filled with chain stitch took a little bit of time.  But I have never done that before and it's a great look.

Today I wanted to tackle at least one of the scavenger blocks, but before I started on that, I put the binding on the bee hive wall hanging.

So once that was done I,got busy on the scavenger block.  Junes clues are "Any Star Block, Snowball and Musical Notes - so I started pulling out some fabric and mixing and matching. .  Well I made some 1/2 square triangles because I wanted to make a friendship star.

So with the fabric being put into a star - I only have the snowball left.  Hmm

Well here's what I came up with.

It actually came together pretty quick.  I colored the block with colored pencils, then outlined with one strand of black embroidery floss.

Then I still had a little time to play so I got busy putting things together for a tote bag I'm making for a gift.  I cut out the outside pieces and attached some batting to it.  Then cut out the lining.  Then I made some pockets and added some Decor Bond to them to give them some stability, and sewed them to the lining.

The material looks shiny in this picture but it's not -it's actually just quilters cotton.

After that it was time to make dinner and pardon me but - it was yummy. Pan fried steak, a small baked potato, and steamed cauliflower with basil and Parmesan.
Now, I think I'll kick back watch some TV and work some more on the Bee-utiful Block pictured above.  Hope you've had a Blessed day.

Relaxing Sunday

Well the heat index is a little high for us now and even though today is a very warm 118 - they are predicting that tomorrow will be 123.  I guess we will see.  But for me, it means that I can have fun sewing and stitching.  I've been working on my Bee-utiful QAL blocks from Moda.  I finished #1 on Thursday.

Then today I finished Block #2.

Then I prepped the fist block for the   "Farmhouse Threads and Friends Harvest Mystery Quilt Blog Hop"

Here is the picture of their block.

Here is my prepped block.

Here is a close up of the lettering I will stitch.  Kind of hard to see.

Then when I got done with that, I prepped the #3 Block for the Bee-utiful QAL.

Here is their block picture.

Here is my prepped block.

Oh... and the rats nest of thread I started to sort out and wind up on the little cards... Well before I did the above blocks I worked a little more on that.

I started by sorting out by color groups so if there were duplicate pieces I could wind them together.

I pulled out the decent size pieces and I'll admit, I tossed a handful of  insignificant pieces.  And when I was tired of winding I bagged some within their color group and here's how it finished out.
I will finish winding the rest one of these days, but for now it is much better than it was.

I took a break to make some dinner, and eat - now I'm going to kick back and do some stitching on these blocks I've prepped.

It's Fathers Day and I'm blessed to still have my Father here on earth. I called him and talked with him and was able to let him know that I'm traveling up to see him next month.  His Birthday is the 3rd of July and even though we'll be there a couple weeks after that but I told him we'd celebrate then.  :)
And all the kids reached out to my wonderful husband and let him know what a great Dad he was and how much they loved him - So Yes it's been a great relaxing Sunday.
Blessings,
Lynn
