For Easton

I had another of my NLIP (Not Like I Planned) moments.  I saw where my daughters ex brother-in-law had a new baby boy.  Well you just have to make a quilt for a new baby.  :)

It went together really quick sine it was a panel. Then I did some free motion quilting on it, and here you go.  A nice little gift for baby Easton. Now I just need to get it in the mail.
Meantime I am still working on the OMG ornaments, and since the month is almost over I need to finish them up.
Have a Blessed Day!

Wrapping up June

I had a few more finishes that I accomplished for June.  Remember the Rubber Ducky quilt that I did the top when I went to Williams. Well my friend Cheryl wanted to quilt it for me so she could use her phonograph of ducks.  Well I'm not going to argue if someone wants to quilt my quilt.   Here it is finished binding and all.
Here is the back.
And a close up of the ducky quilting.
I even made a pillow case.
No I don't know who it is for, but it will go to someone special someday.
Next I finished my wool needle book with the crazy stitches and applique.  Here's the front.
 The Back -
 Both sides -
 And the inside -
I haven't started using it regularly but want to.
Then I finished putting a back on my Wool Crazy Quilt Block that I started approx 2011.

And last but least - I finished the June "One Ornament a Month"
It was a productive month.
Happy Stitching and Blessings,
Lynn

Marching On

My March OMG post had to do with One Monthly Goal.  But I've been super busy and and it's been a little more of an Oh My Goodness.  :)  I probably shouldn't have started the first post of the month titled "March OMG"  it's kinda been that kind of month.  Ha Ha....
Okay what have I done - I made an apron for my sweet friend Bev's birthday! And of course I told my self I'd get a better picture later and didn't. There is also a matching pot holder, it's under the left edge there.  It's very similar to the pocket I put on the front.  She loves Chickens.

I also gave her the table runner we made at our February workshop.  I don't really have a place for them and she always decorates for each holiday.

I have also been working on my "Cottage Quilt" which happens to be my Wool Crazy quilt.

I only have four more sections and then I will be ready to back it.  I'm not sure yet how I want to do that but I'll figure it out.
I also got the baby quilt for my friends daughter done.
I used another of the whales as the label on the back.  Now I need to get it in the mail.
And of course I've been working on my OMG quilt - Twas the night before Christmas. I got the stitching done and the top put together and now I am hand quilting it.
What was I thinking.  ha ha - I am out of practice but it's going okay - I just don't have little stitches like some people can do.

Tomorrow is the start of Colorado River Quilters Quilt Show. That's the big guild I belong to.  I am working the early shift from 9-11 and then will have the rest of the day to run errands and hopefully come home and do some more quilting.
Next weekend is another retreat and I have not decided what I want to take and work on.  A lot of times I take new projects to work on and I have a couple of them cut out and ready to go, however I really want to stick to finishing things rather than start new ones. I  am trying to decide on some UFO's to take to work on. Of course I'll let you know.
Have a blessed day!

Swirly Sheep and Goblins

One of my September goals was to start quilting my newest great granddaughter, Adrianna's quilt.
Here is a little close up on my swirly flowers.
Before I worked on this I played around with a new little design - a cat.

And then I practiced my swirly flowers on the cat wall hanging.
Remember the Halloween wall hanging that my friend dropped off for me to take to the retreat? Well I got it finished Wednesday and then got the binding on Wednesday night.
I went ahead and used the patterns suggestions on how to quilt it - and I like how it came out.
On Thursday I went to my guild meeting and was able to give it to my friend so she be able to give to her granddaughter.
(I have blocked her name tag since it has both her first and last name
It was fun to do and even more fun to know that I was able to give it back to her.
Not sure what today holds but if I get sewing time I will be making more swirls on my sheep.
Have a Blessed Day!

Hello September

I'm super excited about this month.  I have so much going on and it's the start of fall.  If you have read my last post you will know that I'm gearing up for a couple of retreats so I have a Kajillion projects cut and ready to go.  If not scroll down and you will see them all.  *smile*  However Retreat projects don't always count in the grand scheme of things.  Meaning they will not be part of my goals -they are just there for fun.  Then of course they may become UFO's and I'll include them in some future goal setting, but we don't think about that now.
Okay - A couple more items that I want to share from August  and then I'll post my real goals for September.
Here is my August Bag Lady.  Started by not finished....

And here is my Frogs, the reason my Bag Lady is not finished.

That's okay, I want to get them done too so I can put them with their blocks.
So that finishes up August and now to start September.
I only have a couple goals this month because I know I have a lot going on.
1.  Bag Ladies -
Finish July
Finish August
Start September
This of course means that I my have to stop playing with frogs.  ha ha ha
2.  Top Stitch the Bears
I don't know if I can get all of this done, there are hundreds of pieces in each bear that need to be stitched down.  But if I do then I will be adding more grass, leaves and branches.
3. Start quilting Adrianna's Quilt.
That's it.  I will of course be playing with a lot of the items I prepped during my times at the retreats, but they are not goals and should be put down when I return home.  (Ya right we'll see about that)
Have a Blessed Day and Month I'll keep you posted.

Project Line Up

Project Line Up - Yep I've been a cutting machine lately.  But before I get into that and why - I have to say that August has been a little of a mystery month. Who - What - Where - and Why?
To Recap:  We started out the month with company. Our Cousins and a couple of my husbands brothers were here.  The cousins and one of the brothers  left. Then the remaining brother and my husband left and went on a two day trip, while I stayed at home.  When they got home, I left for 4 days for a retreat. Then my brother in law left mid month and I think we've spent the rest  of the month (picture finger to lips, stroking up and down) going blub blub blub.  *smile*  And to top all of that, my husband has been battling his back and knee again so he hasn't been golfing as much.  Which means even though I'm still getting sewing time - I'm totally out of my rhythm.  Golf Days were my days to do my cooking, cleaning and sewing.  Non golf days were gym days and errand running.  Well so be it.  We've  been doing more drives and sight seeing, doing some swimming at the lake and - we're just winging it day by day!   Here's what all I've done.
At the beginning of the month I finished my Tumbler Tote:
At the retreat I got my Frog Works Blocks done:

At the retreat I started the Stack and Flip Quilt:
Then I finished my new Great Granddaughter's Quilt top and got it pinned:

I Quilted the Charity Quilt:
These are the quilts I use to practice my free motion quilting on.  This is how it looks on the back.
And a close up of the border.

And - I prepped and prepped and prepped.  Here is the why -
I really didn't think I had anymore retreats until October.  That's what I get for thinking.  *smile*   I have two get away/retreats back to back.  Starting the day after Labor Day I am going with a friend to another friends cabin in Williams, AZ.  We will have 2+ days of sewing and one day of sightseeing.  Stay tuned for details and pictures.  I think we will be going to "Bearizona" (Click on the link) which is a drive through animal park.  And then we're going to Sedona AZ - Always wanted to go there.  Fun  Fun Fun!!!
Then I'll get home from that on Friday - We have plans to get together with friends on Saturday and then the following Thursday I set up for another retreat at our normal small room at the Casino.  This is a new group of ladies, approximately 30 and I think I know maybe a dozen of them.
And finally as if I haven't drawn it out long enough - here are the items I have been prepping. I have selected fabric and made them into kits and then got them cut and ready to go.
Garden Patch Cats - This is "Pod Cats".
Next is "Pepper Puss"
This next one is from the Wooden Bear.
I bought this next one as a kit, in a quilt shop in California. At the time, we were still living in Oregon and were just on vacation. So that tells me this kit has to be approx 5 years old.
I just got this next one. One of my friends didn't want to do it and said it looked like me.  LOL
Then at the last retreat another of my friends, the one I'm going to Williams with gave me the below kit.  I didn't cut this one out yet but taking it with us.
Fishy Business - I keep looking at this and doing other stuff.  I finally cut out the strips for this and got the fabric for fish ready.  I'm taking a lot of fusible with me for all these applique quilts.
I also have this material that I got and my friend Cheryl is going to show me how to cut to make "Four Patch Posie".  It is a type of "Stack n Whack".
I have way more ready to go than time to do it, but I will now be ready for the next few retreats with kits that are cut and ready to go.
So now I am prepped and ready to go for next month - I guess I'll see what all I can get done. I only have a couple of actual goals I will post them September 1st.
Blessings,    Lynn

Counting Days

Hello,  We have a friend named Mary that started a challenge a few years ago. She does a little bit of stitching every day.  She is up to o...
