Needle Book Archive

I noticed that the Tuesday Archive Link up this week is needle books.  It's kinda funny how timing is because I was just looking into my needle books because we're getting ready to teach them at one of our guilds.  I have several more than this, however here are a few from over the years.

These have pockets on the left  to store floss, thread and scissors. The right side is made of wool for your needles and pins.

The Needle Book below is one that I did a Needle Keep/Book Tutorial for on my blog, if you are interested.

And the below - are some needle books I made for my friends as gifts one year.

This is one I made for a gift for my friends birthday.

it was fun looking back on my posts of Needle books, thanks Val for the link up party.
Have a Blessed Day.

Tuesday Archive - Embroidery

Hello - Been awhile since I've linked up with Val for Tuesday Archives.  Either I've been busy or the category didn't fit something I have.  I am some what new to embroidery - only in the last 5-10 years, but I have to say I absolutely love it.   And I have so many projects (and UFO'S)  that I have done some embroidery on.

Above was a Doll Quilt made for a Doll Quilt swap.

Pincushions for a Pincushion swap, - The pattern came from Kaaren Johnson of  The Painted Quilt

There is embroidery throughout this whole quilt.  This is Sweet Land of Liberty - a pattern by Cheri Saffiote  Payne.  I won a 3rd place ribbon for this quilt in the 2016 Bullhead City Quilt Show.

A Wall Hanging that I did for my sweet friend for her Birthday in August 2013.  The pattern is by Jenny of Elefantz

A pincushion I made that includes embroidery stitches on it.

An ornament I made.

I was part of a Row By Row round robin  in 2014 and I used this little embroidery (again from Jenny of Elefantz) on one of the rows.

Just took a Ribbon Embroidery class a week ago - Here are some flowers I did.

Vintage Kitchen - a BOM offered by Jenny of Elefantz

Not finished with this - Started in April on my trip to Oregon.  This is a pattern in Primitive Quilts and Projects magazine.

Below:  Is also a Jenny of Elefantz pattern. This was her Daisy Days BOM

Above fuzzy picture of  "FriDaisy"  I also have half of "SaturDaisy" done just need to finish up and then do "SunDaisy" and put together.

Below is a pattern by Kaaren Johnson of The Painted Quilt.  "Twas the night before Christmas" just need to finish Santa and assemble with setting blocks.

Below is a little wall hanging I made for an auction to raise money for Katrina victims.

I have several other "Works in progress" and some new embroidery quilts I want to start.  But this gives you a little look into some some my embroidery and I'm sure shows how much I like it.
Thanks for stopping by - I'd love to hear from you - even a "Hi" is wonderful.  Don't forget to go check out some of the other blogs that linked up over at Val's.
Have a Blessed Day!

Hearts

I was looking back on some of my pictures and I'm kind of surprised at how little I've done with hearts.  I didn't pull out the pictures from my older computer, but I am pretty amazed.  I did however come across this block that I made a few years ago for a lady in one of my on-line sewing groups that had broken her hip.  Each of us made a block and one of the ladies was assembling a get well lap quilt for her.  This was my contribution and also serves as a "Heart" block to be submitted for the Tuesday's Archives.

Modern Quilting

Before we moved here to Arizona I went to a few classes in Oregon about "Modern Quilting".  I was hoping that we would get into making some modern quilts, and they may have, but I didn't get a chance to keep going. However for the classes I went to, there was a teacher that is a fabric designer for Michael Miller, explaining the 7 elements that are considered to make a quilt "Modern", such as expansive negative space, and minimalism.  From what I've heard, there seems to be a lot of strong opinions such as  "It's not modern, it's what quilters have always done"  which actually goes along with one of the descriptions of a modern quilt, "Traditional Modernism" traditional piecing with bright or bold fabrics.
Well I don't care what you want to call this style of quilting, I like it.
Back in April of 2014 I made this little doll quilt for my swap partner in Germany.  It is paper pieced but using the bright bold fabrics.  It wasn't orginally made to be a modern quilt, however has several of the definitions to make it a modern.  Minimalism (one block), use of bright bold colors, and the traditional modernism (traditional piecing, using bright and bold).  So for me, I believe it's legit. :)
