Happy 100th and a Give Away

Happy 100 - Blog post that is.  This is my 100th blog post for 2016.  

And of course nothing celebrates your 100th Blog post like a give away.  I am giving away a Pincushion. 

Considering I don't pin everything I sew,  only sometimes if it's got curves or angles, you would not think I have as many pincushions as I do. 
I have fun, practical ones, ones I use, ones I display.  Here are a couple of ones I made that I really liked. 

 Yep I have a collection of them.  I even have a shelf that my Brother-in-law built me that I put some of my pincushions on.  

Then here are some I made for our guild this Christmas.

These are most but not all that all I have or have had. For about a year or a little more, I was part of a group that swapped pincushions. So every month you would make and receive two.  That really helps you build your collection fast. 

Leave a comment telling me if you pin or not, approximately how many pincushions you have, and which of the pincushions you like.  I will make a one of the Christmas ones or the one with a scrap bag in the color of your choice.  The give away will be open until Tuesday at 11:59 pm Arizona time zone. Cabin Fever Party

So what do you do when winter has been too long and cold - You have a Cabin Fever Party with Link ups and gifts.  I'm not actually having the party but Lily Pad Quilting is, and you can read about it here and link up too.

First of all I kept looking out the window wondering if they were going to let us go home early from work.  When that didn't work and I finally got to go home - I took pictures along the way to show what it was like out there.

So then what did I do - Well I stood in awe of the fact that we really were getting snow and that much snow.

 And of course I did a lot of sewing - because here in northern Oregon these snow storms only happen every few years sew I needed to sew sew sew while I could.  And I had a great project that I was working on.  A friend of ours found a quilt top that his Grandma and Mother had worked on in 1968.  Part of it had been stitched by hand and part by machine. It had been in the bottom of a closet somewhere and his Sister was just going to toss it. But our friend wanted to keep it as a memento of his Grandma and Mom.  He asked if I could just spend a couple of hours putting it together.  :)  Well - I fixed some of the blocks and left some of them unsquare - (is that a word). I put a border on to hold it together and used his backing which was flannel.  It needed to be washed but was in such a fragile state I was afraid to.  And the flannel backing was bleeding color on my quilting gloves. But it came together really nice, he loved it, his wife (who hated it at first) loved it when I was done, and one of his sons said his Grandma would have been very pleased.  Awwwww  that was so special.   With what repairs I did do, sandwiching, quilting and binding - it took over 20 hours - I've never kept track of my time before, so that was interesting.  but well worth it for the cause.  Here is the quilt -

When my sweet hubby finally had enough of been cooped up we walked to the grocery store, it's very close to our house.

 I had some other things I worked on too, when I needed a break from the quilt.  but I'll save those for a little later. All the snow is gone and life is back to normal.  So head back over to Lilly Pad Quilts and check out what others did for their cabin fever.

Okay I am a little excited here - But it is my first Blog Hop that I am actually part of.

So to tell you a little about me, I am a wife to my very best friend. We have 3 grown children 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. I still work full time  + some, but try to take on quilty projects like I have no other responsibilities in the world.  So yes to the next question - I do have lots of UFO's, which of course I vow to finish soon.  Ha ha  So along with finishing the UFO's this year the other thing I have been interested in working on is being able to Free Motion Quilt at least well enough to do some of my smaller projects. 
I really enjoy all of the swaps and have participated in most of them that have been put on by the Quilting Gallery. Also I have found a group who does a monthly swap of doll quilts, Called Doll Quilts Monthly.  This will be my first month of swapping with them but so far is has been wonderful, to see what others are creating.  Along with swapping I tend to get excited about BOM's, and of course have several in various stages of completion. I also belong to a group called "Keep me in Stitches" and we do a "BABRR" it is like a round robin but you only do a block. 
So take a minute if you have it and look through some of my pictures, I'm sure I don't have them all posted but there are some. As you will notice I like to applique. I tend to favor needle turn but I do like to do other methods, as you will see in my give away(s).  Was that plural?
