Bee Done

My Bee Quilt is done.  I didn't want to quilt over the embroidery and since I was using warm and natural that can be quilted 10" apart I just did a stitch in the ditch around each block.
And I'm getting pretty good at machine binding so I finished it all up.
My dozen items I wanted to get done by October, grew to a bakers dozen (13), became 14 (with an additional Charity quilt) is now 15 with the addition of a lap quilt for my first Mother in law.   With that being said.  I have 6 of the 15 done.  If I would have stayed with my original dozen I'd be half way.  :)
I also got the Minecraft quilt cleaned up and the binding on, here's a picture of it.
My One Monthly Goal is making progress too.  I worked on this Friday at the cottage and got the green vine and part of the red flowers done.
This next week we have 2 days at the cottage, so hopefully I will get it done.  I still need to back and bind it after the stitches are done so I better pick up the pace.  :).
Haven't totally made up my mind on what I will do today.  I think I want to make up some more backs and get a couple more quilts pin basted.  The quilts that are getting stitch in the ditch are going quick and I want to make sure I have quilts ready to quilt if I have time while our grandson is here.  I'm working hard to stay focused and get ufo's done.  I have 5 quilt size embroidery projects and a wall hanging started. I told myself I had to finish at least 3 of them before I could start my next one.  :)  I'm getting close.
* Bee Quilt - Done (pictured above)
* Bag Ladies - Waiting to be quilted and bound.
* Frog Works - 1 1/2  blocks to go.  The blocks are made I just need to finish assembling the borders - then quilt and bind.
Those are the 3 - however I would like to at least finish the embroidery on the next one before I start a new one.
* Daisy Days - 1 1/2 blocks to embroider then assemble blocks then quilt and bind.
* Berry Picking - barely started.
* All Began with Family (Wall Hanging) barely started.
I have 1 kit and a couple of patterns I want to start, but I'm being good.   By getting all this stuff done - finish 4 or 5, start one, eventually my ufo pile should go down right?  LOL....
Well if you made it thru this far in my mind wandering and planning thank you.
I need to do a few things here in the house then off to the sewing room I go.
Have a Blessed Day!

Day on Day off

After I got the quilting done on the flag quilt on Monday -
and after dinner, I cut and sewed the binding on.  I didn't get a picture of that, but I will once the binding is hand sewn.  I need to find a better place to hang quilts to take pictures of them.
Tuesday I was on fire.  I did some house cleaning, then I pin basted 4 quilts so that I had them ready to go.  (Even started quilting.  :)
Next up on the quilting schedule - Carter's Minecraft quilt.
Then my Bag Ladies.

This one is a charity one that I brought home from the cottage.

And my Bee Quilt.

Then I plugged in my headphones and started in on Minecraft.  Since it's pixel squares I am mostly doing stitch in the ditch and a little echo quilting on it.  I got about 3/4 of it done before I stopped on Tuesday.
Wednesday - well that was another story.  As if it wasn't bad enough to have a bruised tailbone that I'm dealing with, I fell and hit my head and bruised my ribs so Wednesday was a day off. I laid on the couch all day, and watched NCIS reruns.  So day on fire Tuesday - day off on Wednesday.  Today, yes still sore, I'm going to see if I can do a little more quilting on the Minecraft quilt, if not maybe some hand stitching on binding. I'll let you know how I do.
Have a blessed day!

Red White and Blue for June

It's a beautiful day here in sunny Arizona.  I love the sun and blue skies we get here, I don't always appreciate the heat we get here (125 degree's) :)  It's just after 8 am and already 86 degrees. But that's okay a lot of people have to stay inside a few months of the year because of snow, we stay in a few months of the year because of he extreme heat.
Any way that's not what I'm here to write about, I'm here to set out my game plan for June.  June is becoming a patriotic month.  I am working on my Daughter-in-laws flag quilt.  I got it pin basted  and started quilting it yesterday.

I figure I will have the quilting finished on that by first to mid of next week.
The other parts of my red, white and blue - patriotic June have to do with the scrappy UFO's I found that I will working on at the retreat that starts on the 17th of the month.

I posted about these in this Post.   The first one will involve 1/2 square triangles and then trimming so that will be a little time consuming.  The 2nd one will be very easy until I get to the little pinwheel cornerstones.
As always I have 6 other projects I'm taking to the retreat with me - and will probably never get to them.  LOL.
So what's up for the rest of the month?  More quilting, I am determined to get some tops done!  I have backs ready for at least 6 quilts right now and batting cut for 4 or 5.  These 3, will be the first to get quilted.  :
Minecraft -
Bee Quilt.
Bag Ladies.

I want to get (at least) these pin basted in the next couple of weeks.  One of our grandsons is coming for a visit at the end of June and first part of July and he will be using the bed I use to pin the quilts.  :) I don't imagine I'll get a ton of quilting done while he's here, but a little here and there could add up.  I would hate to have the time and no quilt ready.
I'm sure this will keep me more than busy, as my mind thinks of other stuff I want to do also.  But hopefully I can make a good dent in what's listed here.
So for now - Happy June and I'll keep you posted on what I am working on.
Blessings,
Lynn

Bee Flimsy

Hooray - my Bee quilt top is done.
I'm really happy with how it turned out.  After spending a good part of my sewing time organizing some things in the garage, I didn't have a lot of sewing time before hubby got done golfing.  But after dinner it was still kind of early so I spent a little time adding the last couple of rows and the sides to finish the top.  I also got the backing ready and the binding made and even found a piece of batting that is just the right size.  This quilt is on the road to being completely done.  Yay!
I've got a few lined up to being quilted - now I just need to get the quilting done.
For dinner last night I tried something a little new to us - I made taco fixings and put it in a tomato.

It was pretty stinking good.  I probably had a little more cheese than I needed to on the beans, but I didn't have a tortilla or sour cream so I guess not too bad.
Today I have a couple of house keeping items, then I want to make the backing and binding for Carty's Minecraft quilt.  I need to piece the back so I want to put pixel squares of fabric across the middle like the pixel squares on the front. After that I have a some cord keeps to make for a workshop, and if there is still time I came across a fabric book someone gave me that I want to sew up for Nellie and Ben and the new baby.  Not sure if I'll get all that done today but I can try.
Have a Blessed Day!

Bee Blocks

There were a few items that I wanted to accomplish yesterday and I'm very pleased to say I was able to accomplish them.  Here are the rest of the Bee Blocks that I did for the cornerstones of the Bee-Utiful Qal that Moda hosted a couple years ago.
I had a few ready but needed to make a few more of the sashing pieces.
I got all the rows sewn and laid them out.

I'll post more pictures of that when I get the top sewn together.
The other things on my list were cutting a few more pillow cases -

Finish cutting the borders for the old UFO -

That pretty much finished up my day.  I did sew a couple of the rows together after dinner but I'll wait to show that.
I'm going to be busy the next few days - Today I have guild meeting and a few errands.  Tomorrow is charity day at the cottage. and Saturday is sewing day at the cottage, however I will be working on hand work.  I have the Summer Wool Table Mat to work on and the last couple of blocks to embroider for the Frog Works Quilt.  All that to say I'm not sure how much sewing time I'll get on the Bee Quilt until Sunday or Monday.  As Always, I'll keep you in the loop.
Hope you have a Blessed Day!

Spa Day

Yesterday was a busy day, it started off with our little Pumpkin having her "Spa Day" at the groomers.
She's all pretty with her little scarf.  :)
After she was done, we went to the gym.  I did 8.75 miles on the bike and then 30 reps on 5 different machines.
I told my friend Judy I would come over and help her place an order from Amazon with gift cards she got from her children, so I gave her a call after I cleaned up from the gym.  She wasn't home so Hubby and I ran a couple errands including stopping by the library to reserve a couple of movies.  Shorty after we got home, she called and was ready for me to come over.  I did that and by the time I was done with that we were hungry - I made some pork chops and cauliflower fried rice for us.

It was still a little early so I worked on cutting out the remaining blocks for this old UFO I found.

Can you see the date?  2010 Yep it's old.  I saw something on Instagram about "One Thing" with Amy.  Instead of getting overwhelmed you list just list one thing you want to get done this week.  So I listed that I wanted to cut out these blocks.  Well that worked well, I'm done.  This will be another thing I will take to the retreat to work on, if I don't start on it before.  :)
Today I want to finish cutting the borders for this quilt, then I'll cut out a couple more pillow cases.  Next - I finished the bee corner stones.  I'll take a pictures once I get them trimmed up. If there's still time I will start sewing them to the sashing and start putting the rows together on the Bee-Utiful Quilt.
That's it for now - Have a Blessed Day!

Bee Blocks and more.

Still working on my Bee blocks for the corner stones of my Bee-Utiful quilt.  Here's the ones that I have finished.
I only have 11 1/2 to go.  :)  These are trimmed, now I can line them up so I know which ones I want to go where.

A few of us did a little road trip on Saturday
We made it to 4 quilt shops and I got some really good deals on stuff I needed (not just wanted) I was able to get the Bee fabric that I'm using on the sashing for $5.00/yd so I bought enough to make the backing.
I also got binding for my Bag Ladies.  I have enough of the sashing fabric for the back by adding a small strip, but needed the binding.  Score!
It is the opposite of the sashing, here I'll show you.
So it's perfect.
Then I had a couple of gift certificates to the quilt shop where I used to work while they were here in Fort Mohave so I got 4.5 yards of an off white to use as backgrounds for scrap quilts.  I only got stuff a two stores and didn't find anything I had to have at the other two.  They had stuff I liked - but didn't need so I was good.
Hope you're having a good day -
Blessings,  Lynn

Good Start

Well today was the good start I wanted it to be.
I got the borders on Carter's quilt.
Next I pinned the golf quilt so I can brush up and practice my free motion quilting before tackling some of the other quilts.
Then I finished the Jelly Roll Jiggle.
I've also been working on my Bee cornerstones
Yes it was a good start and I hope I can keep up the momentum. Hope you had a good day too.
Blessings, Lynn

Seven Through Nine and WWIT

Working on my Bee Blocks and as of last night (day 6)  I have 9 done.  Yay.   #7
 #8
 #9
I'm not doing these in any special order, I won't know where I want to put them until I'm all done, I'm just numbering them for the sake of knowing how many I've done.  :)
Okay next.... WWIT.  (What Was I Thinking)...
My scrap and piece drawers the ones that have around a half yard or fat quarters or less - that I use for applique - are so tight I am having trouble getting more in.  The last couple of years I've made some blocks and quilts with them, but they are still bulging.  So I have a plan. I have 3-4 quilt types in mind that I can fit these scraps into.
1.  I'm cutting Fat Quarters to use in Turning Twenty Quilts.
2.  I'm cutting 5" Squares for On Point Charm Quilts.
3.  2 1/2" squares to make some kind of 16 patch Quilt such as a Good Night Irene Quilt.
4.  2 1/2"  or other strips and be for the scrappy strip quilts.
Since my machine was in the shop I thought yesterday would be a good day to start cutting.  OMG... WWIT. (What Was I Thinking)  I cut all day and made progress but not a dent.  LOL
There are some different sizes as well - 6 1/2", 4 1/2" and 3 1/2".  I guess I'll figure out something for those when I get there.
I'm not convinced I will get every one of my scraps cut into these sizes - but every little bit will help.  And since I will be making these into charity quilts - it's a win win.
I have some plans for some of my other stash for stash busting, but I'll write more about that later.
Today we're going to the gym, then cleaning up and going to pick up my machine.  We also have pick up a couple things from the store.  I doubt I will get a chance to do any sewing, but I'll work on getting some more Bee Blocks done.
Have a Blessed day -

30 Day Goals

There are all kinds of 30 Day Goals out there right now, concerning diet and exercise - and I have participated in a couple of these and may again, but that's not what I am talking about right now.  I'm challenging myself to 30 days of embroidery blocks.  I am working on my cornerstone blocks ( 30 of them) for the Bee-Utiful QAL quilt.
The other day I decided that if I challenge myself to 1 per day - it will not only keep me focused, but only take me a month to get them done so I can finish the top of my quilt.  And if by chance I get more than one a day done, it will make up for a possible day I can't make it or an early finish.
Here's where I am so far.

I am one ahead - but want to keep going maybe I can do 30 in 20 days.  :)
Okay what else have I done.  I got part of the sashing done for the Minecraft quilt - I'll show you that later.
Yesterday I made up some new labels for charity quilts for one of our guilds.

I try to do them in a rainbow of colors since I really don't know what color quilts will come in.  I may add a few plain cream ones just in case.  I try to do this a couple times a year to help out.
Okay and last but now least, I'm still working on healthy eating.  Here's my Low Carb Meatloaf, Roasted Vegetables and Cauliflower Rice.
Someday I'll get better at presentation for these food pictures.  I start eating then think - oh ya - a picture.  :). I used pork rinds, instead of bread crumbs or crackers.
I also made some Low Carb Peanut Butter cookies.  I used Almond flour and granulated Stevia, made from Stevia Extract.

They turned out pretty good.   About 100 cal and 4.5 g carbs per cookie.  Not too bad if you need a sweet treat.
Well I'm off to start the day.  Breakfast, Gym and may need to take my machine into get repaired.

The bobbin case is popping out of place.  YIKES!  It's not supposed to do that.
Update:  While I was writing this and making breakfast, repair person called and it may just need an adjustment.  I'm going to go check and hopefully that will work.
I'll let you know later,
Have a Blessed day -
Lynn

Counting Days

Hello,  We have a friend named Mary that started a challenge a few years ago. She does a little bit of stitching every day.  She is up to o...
