I just want to say from mid-July to mid-August, has gone way too fast. Most of this time has been with our kids/grandkids visiting and it has been so special. But again, it went to fast.
First part of July we had our grandson Caleb.. The day we picked him up we hadn't even made it home, stopped by the Chevy dealership and bought a new truck. See the post below. :)
Being so hot and since he is from a part of Oregon that mostly rains, he's not into the outdoors (here in the summer) so much. So going to the lake or hiking wasn't his thing. We did however get him to go to the animal park that is just outside of Kingman AZ "Keepers of the Wild". I took way too many pictures and and can't remember all they told us about each animal, but I did like riding versus walking to get the stories (and a little break from direct sunlight)
So here's a little of what I do remember. When we got to the monkey cage, she told us not to make faces at them, they take it as a threat and can get very aggressive. She also told us a few stories of how they can get attracted to individual humans and very jealous or protective of them.
Well - I think Caleb thought we were just messing with him, but both my husband and I noticed how this monkey ran to the corner of the cage and the whole time we were in front of the cage it stared only at Caleb our grandson. Now I didn't say anything until after we go home, but hubby/Grandpa brings it up and I say ya, I saw it too. Well whether he believes it or not... a monkey out there is heart struck for Caleb. :)
Here's a few of the other animals we saw.. I'll try not to post all of them. lol
On the way home we got some pictures of the old schoolhouse in Valentine AZ. Hackberry, AZ on Route 66.
This was very strange - so thankful for Google search and Wikipedia. This is a charcoal kiln. In case you were wondering.
Sent this picture to Caleb's parents and told them we'd been waiting for an hour for Caleb to come out. LOL We are so funny.
Now this was funny. We kept trying to convince him that there were still Indians living in the mountains and they were watching him. I think he pondered it for a bit before he finally said no there can't be.
Just a few more pictures of this handsome boy.
This was Movie night. We saw the transformer movie. I might have liked it even more than he did. LOL
And He and I waiting for his plane to fly home. Good thing he ate this sandwich cause right after he launched into a bag of dum dum suckers we gave him. Oh well that's the joy of being grandparents - feed them full of sugar and send them home. LOL.
We had a great time.. Love ya Caleb. See ya soon.
