River Quilters Retreat

All of our retreats except one are held at the Tropicana Laughlin Hotel and Casino.  The retreats which are mostly held in the Coranado Room differ in lay out depending on who the host is. This one is put on by River Quilters which we refer to at the Helga Retreat.  Helga Brown, Judy Jorden and Susan Sacco are from Lake Havasu City and they are the ones that put this together and call the group River Quilters.  This retreat normally includes 30 people and the layout works to not crowd us.
 Here are the welcome gifts.
And our name tags.
Here are the lay out pictures I took while people were setting up.  I am facing the front of the room from the middle of the room and taking pictures from the right going to the left.

This picture I am standing at the door look straight back.
This picture is from back of room looking to the right.
This picture is from back of room looking towards the door.
This picture is from back of room looking to the left.  My seat at this retreat is just beyond Ann next to window. (See the turquoise jacket on the chair)
I did not work on the project(s) that I thought I would so I guess I'll have them for the next retreat.  I was just going to do a couple steps on my old mystery bom ufo, then bring home do trimming and get set up for the next steps.  Well I got excited and kept going.  :)
I was going to just make these units and then bring home to cut.
like this, because it was using a special ruler/template ....
but I went ahead and cut.... and then I was able to do the next several steps -
At that point I was able to do everything except the 2 borders.
I didn't bring it with me because I wasn't going to go that far.  LOL.
After I got that done - continued on with the HST that I thought I was going to work on.  I wanted to get them sewn so I could trim during the week and then I'd be able to start putting that ufo  together.
Sunday - the last day of this retreat was my Birthday!  Happy Birthday to me.  My daughter asked if I was having fun I told her yes I was in my happy place - sewing.
And what are the chances - there was another lady there, that got into the retreat because someone canceled and it was her Birthday too.
It was a super fun weekend and retreat.  They had games, raffles and door prizes.  Oh and lots of sewing and laughter.
Time to gear up for the next one.
Have a Blessed Day! Lynn

Happy Day - Birthday that is

Well I don't always announce my Birthday - But it's over now so I guess I can talk about it.  I had a very relaxing and nice day.  My Birthday Celebrations actually started when my Sister came to visit - but the actual day was Thursday.  We started out our day going to the river and doing a little fishing.  I don't have my license right now so I was just taking in the scenery, which included this beautiful sight.  He flew off and I tried to catch him/her in flight but wasn't quick enough.

Then we came home and my Sweet Honey took me to breakfast at a restaurant that I've been wanting to try. *Bumbleberry Flats*  It is located in the Pioneer Casino in Laughlin.

Here was our view -

My Honey:

Had this to eat - it was a ham and spinach omelette.

Then he posted this picture of me on FB and said he was having breakfast with his beautiful bride the birthday girl.  :)  Sweetheart isn't he.

And this is what I had -  Meat lovers omelette with "Cheese Grits" I love Cheese grits.  Yummy!  :)
We both had enough to bring home and have for Breakfast the next day.

I want to go back there for lunch and or dinner to try some of their other entrees too.  They have a Jambalya I would like to try.

Anyway it was such a nice day and I got a Kazillion Birthday wishes from friends and family which also made it so special.

Thanks to all the well wishes and the yummy food.
Blessings,
Lynn

Birthday Girl

Today is my youngest Daughter's Birthday.  She is 32!  Wow.  I must have had her when I was 5.  :)

Below is a picture I posted on Facebook

Yesterday I was able to finish Quilting the Charity Quilt and get the binding on, just need to do the hand stitching on it.

It's a little hard to see the quilting here is how it looks from the back.
I did circles in the squares and then some swirls in the borders.

Then I finished the stitching on the "T" block for the Buttermilk Basin BOM.  The Eyes will be buttons.  I'm not sure I like the ones I have so I may get some different ones.

Then I worked a little on Block 4 of Bee-Utiful QAL.

I've finished most of my goals for the month which is awesome.  However I also ended up adding a couple of Blocks of the Week.  What was I thinking.  Ha Ha.  But I think for today I am going to work on some gifts I want to make, and a little more work on this month's UFO. I have only gotten about 3 blocks on it done and so for these last few days of the month that's probably a good thing to work on.  That and my new BOW's.
Have a Blessed day!

Home Sweet Home

We're home, we're home!!!!!

We had a wonderful time on our vacation for my Dad's birthday - or like the grandkids used to say "Kation"  :)

We headed to California first to drop off our doggies.
At my Brother-in-laws house.
We stayed there a couple of days - letting the dogs get adjusted and driving around visiting and seeing old places that my husband knew growing up.  It was fun seeing that part of his life in his home town.
I also got to visit a couple of quilt / fabric shops while there too.  Score.  And I didn't buy too much either - Wow I know.

My Brother-in-law had a friend visiting from China so the doggies were totally abused while he was at work during the day - can you tell?   :)

After we left there we made our way up towards Oregon to celebrate my Dad's 80th Birthday.   He lives on the southern Oregon coast.

Happy Birthday Daddy - Love you So So Much!

We got most all of our family together for the event.

Above picture: Top left Whitney with Ava, Mark with Brynn (the twins) That is my Sister Randi's son and family. Then Me, my daughter Chantaya.  Sister Randi, Step Brother Gene,
Bottom Left, my husband Jerry, Step-Mom Shirley with Dad, and on right Dan, Randi's husband.

Very similar expect the picture takers switching to get in picture.  Next to me in back row is  Alyse, Gene's wife (Sister in law) rest of the people remain the same.  Except Chantaya came down front.

Below - Dad with his two girls.

Unfortunately his great grandchildren from our daughter Chantaya, couldn't make it.  Here's a picture of them visiting him a couple summers ago.
Here's some random pictures from 4th of July and his party.  Dad's Birthday was actually on Friday the 3rd but it made it easier to celebrate on the 4th.
Mark's twins - Brynn on left Ava on right.
I gave them their little purses and dresses they really liked them.

 Jerry Playing catch with Ava.

Shirley, Gene and Alyse with their doggies or should I say horse sized Dobermans  -  the dogs are big but they are really sweet.  Kitty and Jaxon.

Brynn - coloring.

Whitney on beach with the girls.

After all of the celebrations we went to the pier and watched the fireworks.

It was so fun and I loved seeing everyone - it's been way too long since we've seen part of the family - but it wouldn't be so special if it hadn't.
We drove back to pick up the doggies in California - WOW were they happy we came back to get them. As nervous as they were on the ride there, they slept all the way home. (About 4 1/2 hours)
As much as I miss my family - it's good to be home.
Have a Blessed day - Lynn

Wrapping up

Well we've got some Birthdays going on. Today is my baby girl Chantaya's Birthday, she is 31 today - I had her when I was 8,  Ha Ha.   Here's both my girls - Birthday girl is on the left. This was taken at our going away party almost a year ago, that Chantaya was running around trying to get everything done.  And everybody was trying not to cry.

Then in a week, it will be my Dad's 80th birthday.  We will be traveling back to Oregon and celebrating that with him.  His birthday is on the 3rd, he always said he came out to see the fireworks.  We are having his party on the 4th so double celebration.

Here's my Daddy.  Last year right about the time I retired we went over to his place on the coast and met up with my Sister and Brother-in-law and put together a pre-fab shed for him.  this was taken after we got done.

We are trying to get everyone in the family there to help celebrate his birthday.  Chantaya will be coming, but will not be able to bring her two children. We will miss them. :(  My Nephew and his wife will be coming too with their almost 3 year old twin daughters that Dad hasn't seen in person yet.  So that will be very special.  It's been over a year since I've seen them too so I'm sure that will be fun.  I made them little dresses with matching zippered purses and little pouch purses - I will be wrapping them up later.

So I'm working at wrapping up presents, and wrapping up my goals for the month.  We'll be leaving in the next couple of days so need to wrap it all up and hit the road.  :)
I'll be posting my finishes for June and then listing my goals for July - but since we won't be home until a few days into July I really need to make the list short.  We'll see how that goes - haven't done that yet.  :)
Have a blessed day - I'll be packing and cleaning and wrapping.
