New Month New Year New Goals

Hello 2021 - There are mixed emotions from person to person on how happy they or unhappy they are about getting rid of 2020.  There were things that weren't good, and things I didn't/don't like - but I did have a lot of good things happen over the year. 

But now it's a new year and even though my sewing time has been cut by working, I still have dreams of projects dancing in my head.  :)

Today I went over to my friend Cheryl's and sewed with my girlfriends again. I was able to get the little zipper purse done that I posted about in the last post.  

Then I worked a little on my Embroidery panel #1 of 3 for the Over the River Quilt. 

This will be my One Monthly Goal for January 2021.  

Here is my starting point today. 

My goal for this month is to get to this point - where the red dots are.  It's a small goal but I need to start somewhere.  :) I'd love to say I'd get the rest of the panel done - but it seems the days off go way too quick with all my other duties and interests in life.

Hello out there

Hello - I knew it had been a little bit since I had made a post, however I really didn't think it had been this long.  Wow.  I miss posting (and reading) blogs - life just gets in the way. 

So thinking back I'm trying to see what all has taken up my time... :)
Obviously I've been working a lot.  Sewing and stitching are primarily left for days off and they are sporadic. And then there is still cooking, cleaning and errands to run. On my days off, I have been able to have a couple of lunches with my quilting buddies and Sister now that she is back for the winter. She has also come over a couple of times to spend an afternoon and we stitched a little.  So even though I haven't gotten a lot of sewing or stitching done, there have been little bits here and there.  Surprisingly in Oct there was a retreat (we had to wear masks the whole time - but it was fun) and I was able to get this much of the top of a baby quilt done.  

We took the masks off briefly for the picture. 

But let me back up a little. On one of my last posts for September I posted that I wanted to finish the stitching on this, and did. 

At some point I also finished the stitching on this too. 

And also in September we got 15 new windows and 4 new doors.  Not that you knew what it looked like before but this really looks much better. 

Lately I've been working on some of these little squares. I think because they are small and something I can accomplish in a few hours.

They are from this pattern - 

Hubby and I are doing walks on most mornings - we have missed a few do to my schedule or the biting wind but we have been otherwise steady.  

I've also been doing some morning reading.  I have been doing a lot of Kelly Minter's Bible Studies "Nehemiah, Ruth and The Fitting Room"  and I also finished a book by Susanne Eller "Joykeeper". 

 

It's a nice way to start my mornings, while I have my coffee and wake up.

Other things that have gone on: I got a Homer Badge award at work in September. Then In Oct I got Assoc of the Month for my Dept. 

So the last but not least to share - is our Thanksgiving. Putting aside the fact we couldn't spend it with our Children and grandchildren - it was awesome.  

I have to say - the turkey was wonderful.  Below is a selfie with my Sister.

So that is a very general overview of the last (wow) 3 months.  

I'm hoping to blog more and I'm hoping to sew more. I guess we'll see how that goes.  Before I leave I'll share some photos of patterns I bought.

Like I don't have enough patterns already and like I have time to get them done - but I'm hopeful.  :)

I'll work at posting more often, even if it's just a meal I've cooked.

Hello May

Hello - I hope this finds all of you healthy and happy. 
In April I severely over estimated what I could accomplish.  I was going to finish one embroidery piece and get "X" amount done on another.  Whoa was I wrong or what. All that to say - I'm not sure how to gauge what is reasonable for May.  
I have been mega busy with family and work, and not with sewing.  However, I think I am finally at a point with my work schedule that I can get in some kind of a routine.  I will have different days off but will have the same shift daily.  That should really help. 
Okay now back to the sewing part... 
I will try again to get to the bridge on my "Over the River and through the Woods".  Here is where I am at as I start this month. 

That's it for the goal.  It doesn't seem like much but with only 5  or 6  day's off  until end of month it's enough.  The fold in the center of the next picture is where I want to get to. 

As you can see, it took me all month to get the rest of the tree branches done, the one house and some fence posts.

Slooow Stitching

I saw a post on social media the other day that said is this "Is tomorrow Monday or June?".... Well I think I can safely say that I am not the only one that is feeling that way.  I know a lot of people are having difficultly due to the Covid-19 situation in one way or another.  Whether it be the actual virus or a lay-off at work, or the isolation from others.  God Bless you and help you all.  
Well I'm not sure I can blame the craziness of the virus for me having a lack of time - not entirely anyhow.  I am working full time, and my extra time has been mainly consummed with cooking for my husband and brother in law whom is with us right now. He came for a visit but has had to stay longer do to the "Shelter in Place" orders.  
I get up, make breakfasts, then shower and go to work. Then I come home and we eat if I've grabbed something on the way home or I cook something and then we eat.  By the time I do that and make lunches for the next day - I'm pretty well done for the day.  
I'll get in a groove again and be more productive - but for now... I'm severely lacking in progress.  And I seriously doubt I will make my stitching goals for April.  I'm going to work on them a little today and tomorrow but still have other things to do too.

Other things on the home front.... I went back to work to get some home projects done.  One of them was to cut down the dead tree so it doesn't fall on the house.

Next up will be garage roof and new doors.  I'll keep you posted.

OMG Wake Up

This morning I had that nice feeling of gently tossing and turning because I knew I had the day off and I actually got a full nights rest. So as I was slowly waking up - all the sudden I had a jolt of electricity go through me .... I forgot to link up my finish for the March OMG.  Dang!!  I finished it on March 10th.  Dang. It's one thing to not finsh something and not be able to link up, but to finish and then forget.  Did I happen to say Dang!?.   It has bugged me off and on all all day.  (Dang!)  
Okay - I'll let it go.  April is a new month and with all that is going on in my little world, let alone the whole world right now, a missed link up is really nothing.  
So I'll post about April and the One Monthly Goal I want to accomplish.  


For April I want to get the rest of this embroidered.

And get at least 1/2 of this panel embroidered. It would be around the brick bridge.

The pattern is "Over the River and Through the Woods" 
This is my year for "Hand Work".  I have _?_# of WIP and UFO's that need a lot of hand work before they can be completed.  Also I've gone back to work and 6 weeks into it, I was offered full time -I guess hardly unheard of.  So with the limited time I have to sew, the hand work will work well.  (And I may get some UFO's knocked out)

Baby Bugs

For some reason I thought I posted what I had done at the retreat a couple weeks ago, but I guess not.  So here we go... I worked on getting all the setting blocks and flying geese done for the embroidery quilt "Over the River and through the woods".  Then I put together this baby quilt to donate to the guild to sell in the boutique at our quilt show.  I got it pinned on the 2nd... 

 Then on the 5th I was on fire. I got it quilted and bound.   

Here's a couple close ups of my meandering.  

The VW Bugs were giving to us at the quilt guild to make something for the boutique.  This was nice and easy. 

Then I got my labels ready for the 3 quilts I'm putting in the show.  

Then I did "D" and "E" of my inchies. 

Good thing, because I haven't really done much since.  My Sister came over on Sunday and we got a few more inchies done.  Trying to get in routines now that I'm working again.  It will happen...
